Production Supervisor - Cork

Our Client has begun recruiting for a Produciton Supervisor that will be reporting to the Production Manager. The Production Supervisor is responsible for the coordination of production activities within the Cork facility. The Production Supervisor will be accountable for the achievement of department metrics and targets under the 0-50-100 (Zero Accidents & Defects, 50% Reduction in Lead times, 100% increase in Throughput) Operational Excellence Program as well as supporting key site objectives. The Production Supervisor will act as a member of the Production Management Team. As regards work shift pattern the role will move from a day work shift pattern to a shift based work shift pattern over time in line with business needs.

- Provide expert supervisory support to manufacturing operations, through coaching, developing and leading teams to support fulfillment of colleague potential both individually and collectively.
- Manage the work performance of all employees assigned to your team.
- Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and implementing systems, policies and procedures including scheduling of overtime, holidays and weekly Time & Attendance for payroll processing.
- Responsible for assigning tasks to teams for the material flow / work within the department. Coordination of team tasks to meet weekly plan
- Responsible for team on the job training and identification of training needs (Agility Assessment)

- Ensures compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health and Safety Legislation and adherence to site Safety procedures and requirements
- Completes root cause investigation and follow up in relation to EHS incidents and implementation of Corrective and Preventative actions.
- Maintain housekeeping standards to 5S principles within the department.
- Support EHS strategies and improvements.
- Foster a culture of EHS ownership and accountability driving a Behavioral Safety Culture.

- Partner with the Quality department to ensure compliance with Quality Standards
- Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) implementation, completion of detailed RCAi, completion of agreed actions and timely CAPA closure
- Support the investigation and follow-up in relation to complaints / external NCEs and the implementation of identified corrective and preventative actions
- Foster a culture of Right First Time (RFT) ensuring (1) Product Quality and (2) Audit Readiness which is aligned to the site 5S Program

- Responsible for achieving Production metrics specific to the 0-50-100 Operational Excellence Program.
- Analysis of manufacturing metrics such as throughput, on-time-delivery, non-conformances and rework/reject rates on a cell-by-cell basis.
- Tracking and reporting of manufacturing performance to identify appropriate technical and process response.
- Ensure preventive maintenance activities are completed as scheduled.
- Monitor raw material, production consumable and packaging consumable usage/efficiency metrics.

- Ensure effective two-way communication within department.
- Facilitate scheduled daily / weekly meetings as required.
- Deputise for Production Manager at cross functional meetings as required.
- Strong communication skills essential to:
- Foster teamwork, efficiency and effectiveness, promote RFT and 0-50-100 program Ideal Behaviours
- Collaborate effectively and efficiently with various teams and support functions.

- Actively identify improvement opportunities within the department
- Assist with Continuous Improvement projects that arise and complete assigned project tasks as necessary
- Support a culture of Continuous Improvement by using Lean Manufacturing tools in a structured approach to problem solving

- Provide expertise, in conjunction with the Engineering Department, regarding new production introduction and process/product development.
- Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

- Previous experience of leading and managing teams in a manufacturing environment is essential. Must be able to demonstrate personal leadership experience and understand the importance of positive employee engagement. Experience of working in an industrial relations environment would be advantageous, though not essential
- A minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience preferably in a Lean Manufacturing medical device business
- Strong leadership and people supervisory skills with excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
- Demonstrated passion for creating an inclusive culture of team development, performance and continuous improvement
- Have a high level of business awareness, be action oriented complemented by the resilience to achieve challenging objectives
- Must be a pro-active self-starter with excellent problem solving skills
- Assertive, capable decision maker who provides clear direction to all team members and support functions where required

- 3rd Level Degree qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering/Science is a requirement.
- Proven experience and knowledge of process improvements with the use of Lean Tools.
- Previous experience of new product introductions.
